Jessica Hetterich

I fell in love with yoga on Valentine's Day in 2016 when I attended my first class at a local studio in Nashville. The physical challenge, emotional benefits, and friendly faces kept me coming back for more. A small seed was planted in my mind in those early days that someday I would like to teach and share this transformational practice with others. Yoga helped me shift fear into possibility, and self-doubt into courage. I signed up for a hands-on assisting workshop in February 2017, completed my 200-hour training with Empower School of Yoga in March 2018 and began teaching full-time in April 2019. The consistent practice of yoga helped grow that small seed into something big: one breath, one pose and one class at a time.

It is my intention to create joy and ease, and encourage my students to be curious about the modifications, variations, and mindfulness that make a yoga practice their own. My 7th grade history teacher introduced me to the concept of being a “learner for life” and it’s this way of being - one of enthusiasm and curiosity - that I hope to cultivate in the yoga studio.

I moved to Nashville from Hamilton OH in 2006 to attend Belmont, and have pretty much been here ever since. I am an advocate for our thriving local businesses and a few of my favorites are Dino's, Electric Mixer, and Dozen Bakery. I love lounging by the pool reading my monthly book club selection, hiking at Radnor Lake, dining on patios with friends, hosting movie nights, and spending time on my various creative endeavors (currently needlepoint and watercolor painting).
